A grown-up should prepare a large cardboard triangle.
Use scissors to cut small notches along the two long sides of the cardboard triangle.
Color the cardboard triangle with green paint stick or crayon.
Use a fork to paint the needle-like texture on the cardboard tree. Let dry.
Wrap string, yarn or tinsel around the tree. Use the notches along the side to secure the ends.
Use a metallic marker or black marker to draw the ornament hooks.
Use a foam star sticker or cut out a star + glue to the top.
Pair with the children's book Pick a Pine Tree by Patricia Toht about how a regular pine tree becomes a Christmas tree. Read while waiting for paint to dry.
